The Fleet  Manager is primarily in charge and accountable for managing Australia Zoo and Wildlife Warrior’s fleet vehicles (including cars, trucks, buggies, quad bikes, boats, scooters and trailers).

The Fleet Manager is responsible for overseeing all Fleet duties, including managing regular maintenance, coordinating and conducting repairs, overseeing driver competency,  liaising with Departments on their operational needs, handling administration, managing relations with technicians and suppliers, handling bookings, assisting with vehicle dropoffs/collections, managing registrations and renewals, handling of quotes and invoices, budgeting, reviewing vehicles at the end of their operational life, providing recommendations, overseeing the implementation of new systems and ensuring regular reporting and communication to Executive Management and Senior Management.

This position holder must have a great practical and theoretical understanding of general mechanics. The role requires someone who is organised, has great written and verbal communication and is a proactive thinker.  Familiarity with Kaizen’s Vehicle Manager and Google software is favourable.

Duties Include but are not limited to:

  • Oversee the management and maintenance  of all Fleet vehicles owned by Australia Zoo Group (including but not limited to cars, trucks, buggies, quad bikes, boats, scooters and trailers).
  • Work closely with the Fleet Operations Assistant to ensure all Fleet administrative requirements, ensuring thorough records are kept and maintained.
  • Organise and complete vehicle drop offs and pick ups. Liaise with Executive Team Management on a weekly basis to organise staffing to assist with these scheduled tasks.
  • Ensure vehicle and boat operational requirements are met.
  • Manage the schedule for vehicle servicing and follow processes to ensure that all identified issues are rectified. Provide reports and recommendations as required.
  • Organise vehicle repairs and minor servicing as appropriate, to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Oversee plant and equipment management, as required.
  • Manage the implementation of systems to manage Fleet assets and track Fleet tasks, in order of priority.
  • Coordinate maintenance and repairs for other mechanical equipment (mowers, chainsaws etc.).
  • Maintain the Fleet shed and safe storage of assets.
  • Undertake quarterly audits of Australia Zoo’s fleet and identify any areas that require attention, in line with the objectives of Senior Management and departmental needs. Provide reports and recommendations appropriately for consideration.
  • Supporting Executive Team Management with various ad hoc duties.
  • Provision of written weekly reports to Senior Management, and regular reporting during the week relating to the status of various jobs.
  • Preparation of other reports on vehicles and Fleet management as requested.
  • Organise coverage for Fleet when on annual leave, or not onsite.
  • Participate in performance reviews or training as requested by Management.
  • Assisting with other duties as directed by Senior Management.

  • Highly proficient with reporting and documenting.
  • Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (including Excel, Word, Outlook, Powerpoint etc), Google Suite (GMail, Google Sheets, Google Docs etc) and other computer software.
  • Hold current manual Driver’s Licence – MR.
  • High level of mechanical theoretical and practical knowledge.
  • Available to work weekends, public holidays, and school holiday periods.

Preferred Criteria:

  • Any other relevant Certificates or Qualifications.
  • Familiarity with Kaizen’s Vehicle Manager.
