
Financial Accountant - Full Time

The Accounts team are responsible for ensuring the smooth operations of all Australia Zoo Group financials. The tight knit team work closely together to ensure all KPIs and objectives are met in the most professional way possible.
The Financial Accountant will oversee and facilitate the preparation of the financial statements for the Australia Zoo Group, Wildlife Warriors, and Wildlife Warriors USA. The Financial Accountant will coordinate the Accounts Department and oversee all roles and responsibilities of team members.

Duties Include:
- Preparation of daily cashflow reports for the Financial Controller.
- Review the weekly payroll packs prepared by the Payroll Officer for accuracy and process the online payments as directed by the Financial Controller.
- Review the weekly batch payments prepared by the Accounts Payable officers for accuracy and process the online payments and transfers as directed by the Financial Controller.
- Preparation of weekly wages to sales reports so that the Retail, Food & Beverage, and Guest Services departments can monitor their performance.
- Preparation of weekly wages to sales reports so that the Crocodile Hunter Lodge and Warrior Restaurant can monitor their performance.
- Preparation of end of month entries including depreciation and other adjustments.
- Prepare and review balance sheet account reconciliations ensuring all transactions are valid and have appropriate supporting documentation.
- Investigate and fix identified discrepancies with balance sheet reconciliations.
- Reconciliation of revenue on a monthly basis for accuracy, ensuring the figures balance with the Point of Sale systems. Investigating and fixing discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Undertaking and/or supervising all consolidation requirements for the members of the Group.
- Preparation of BAS, IAS and FBT returns for members of the Group and ensuring lodgement deadlines are met.
- Preparation of monthly KPI reports for the members of the Group.
- Ensuring accuracy and timeliness of all required financial reports, reviewing and improving systems and report formats.
- Overseeing all financial, accounting, record keeping systems and relevant staff.
- Supervising and assisting team members within the Accounts Department.
- Improve/Maintain systems of internal controls to safeguard all financial and physical assets of the Group.
- Working with external accountants on preparation of all financial reports, year-end financial statements and consolidations.
- Assist the Financial Controller in ensuring information requirements of financial institutions are met.
Essential Criteria:
- Full availability, including weekends, public holidays, and school holiday periods
- Satisfactory Australian Federal Police Criminal Record Check must be undertaken prior to employment
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role (Financial Accountant/Management Accountant)
- CPA or CA qualifications
- Advance Excel skills
- Demonstrated leadership ability, team management and interpersonal skills
